Frequently asked questions

General

Is my data saved anywhere?
No. Every calculation runs in your browser — nothing you enter is sent to a server or saved anywhere by this site.
Which currencies are supported?
The country presets cover USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, AUD, INR, and NZD with locale-correct number formatting. Choosing "Other / worldwide" adds JPY, CNY, ZAR, SGD, and AED.
Why doesn't my country have a preset?
Choose "Other / worldwide" — you can still pick a matching currency and enter your own loan amount, rate, and term. The underlying math is identical; only the pre-filled defaults differ by country.
How accurate are the typical rates shown for each country?
They're reasonable starting points for estimation, not your actual rate. Interest rates, thresholds, and program rules change over time and vary by lender — always confirm your real numbers with your loan servicer or the relevant government program.
Standard calculator or income-driven calculator — which do I need?
If your loan has a fixed rate and term (most private loans, and most government loans by default), use the Standard Loan Calculator. If your payment is based on your income (US IDR plans, UK Plan 1/2/4/5, Australia's HECS-HELP), use the Income-Driven Repayment Calculator instead — selecting one of those loan types on the standard calculator will route you there automatically.
Is this site affiliated with any lender or government agency?
No. This is an independent calculator; it isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for any lender's or government program's official tools.
