Why Real Student Loan Calculator exists
Most student loan calculators online are US calculators with a currency symbol bolted on: enter an amount, a rate, and a term, get a fixed monthly payment. That works fine if your loan actually behaves that way — but a large share of student loans, in the US and elsewhere, don't. UK, and Australian student loans repay as a percentage of income, not a fixed schedule. US income-driven plans work the same way. None of that shows up correctly in a calculator built only for fixed-rate amortization.
This site was built to fix that gap directly: a Standard Loan Calculator for fixed-rate loans (with real support for extra payments and study-period deferment, which most calculators skip), and a separate Income-Driven Repayment Calculator that models the very different math of income-based repayment — including showing you when your balance is projected to grow before it shrinks, which a flat-rate calculator simply can't represent.
It's also built currency-first rather than US-first: country presets pre-fill locale-correct number formatting and typical local loan terms for eight countries, and any of a dozen currencies work directly for everywhere else.
Every formula behind the results is documented in full, in plain language, on the How it works page — nothing here is a black box. As described in the Privacy Policy, no data you enter is sent anywhere; every calculation runs entirely in your browser.
